Nicky
Tshovutshovu was born in Harare, Zimbabwe on 28 August
1975. He grew up with paint and brushes as his toys, inspired
by his father who is an artist. He watched him work in
different disciplines of art and after a while Nicky's
‘play’ turned into ‘art’.
After
completing High School in 1994, he joined a supermarket
chain as a commercial artist using the skills his father
had taught him in his studio. After three years he moved
to the Marketing Department of the same supermarket as
trainee P.R. Manager. In May 2000 he realised his passion
as an artist is not expanding and growing so he resigned
from the corporate world to become a full-time artist.
He started developing his creativity and taught himself
different techniques by reading books on subjects such
as the Fauvist movement and through daily training. Henri
Matisse, Kandisky and Norman Tshovutshovu are but some
of his sources of inspiration.
He
is currently based in Durban, South Africa where he captures
everyday life on canvas.
Nicky
finds his motivation and direction from His Father in
heaven and has a close relationship with his Lord, Jesus
Christ.
