The Safari Company offers you and your family the opportunity to experience the real Africa on safari in the untouched wilderness of South Luangwa, Zambia.

Nkwali Camp, situated on the Luangwa River, is a delightful camp ideally suited to families travelling together. There are large lawned areas where children can play, under the shade of huge ebony trees. The staff are fun, friendly and competent and do their utmost to make sure everyone is welcomed. The safari activities will be individually tailored to the family. Nkwali also has a large, fenced swimming pool ideal for children to cool down and let off steam.

The camp is located on private land overlooking the National Park. The land is superb gameviewing country, with a beautiful area of ebony woodland and open grass plains. Elephants often cross the Luangwa, seen from the bar, or come to the waterhole near the thatched dining room. The chalets are cool and spacious. Access to the park is through the main entrance over the bridge, by boat from the camp or by our nearby pontoon. The area is famous for leopard and giraffe sightings.

• At the vegetable garden collect food for lunch and eggs from the chickens

Activities on this family safari:
Suggested activities adaptable and totally flexible to specifically suit the needs and ages of each child:
• Safari program designed for children (including walks and drives)
• Nature walks around camp to identify and learn spoor, droppings etc
• Safari packs - with fun quizzes, journal, animal colour-in book etc suited to the age of the child
• Visit to Kawaza School to meet Zambian children
• Participate at a local workshop, making elephant dung paper and greeting cards
• Visit Chipembele Wildlife Educational Centre, which has been set up to teach local children about the environment

Best season:
Depending on what you would like to see and do, will dictate the best time of the year to visit Zambia. The winter months (May to August) are good for game viewing where the summer months (September to April) offer spectacular scenery and also the best birdlife as the migratory birds return from up north (central Africa and Europe) to breed in specific places such as the Lower Zambezi and Luangwa Valley.
