the highest mountain in Kenya and second highest in Africa, this
National Park is a popular destination for rock climbing enthusiasts.
The two highest peaks on Mount Kenya, Batain (5199m) and Nelion

attempted by experienced rock climbers. Point Lenana (4985m) is
a non-technical climb accessible to hikers in a good condition
and is best climbed in the dry season (Jan –Feb). July –
October is also dry but colder.
Rock climbing routes on the south side of the mountain are in
best condition from late December to mid March while routes on
the north side are best climbed from late June to mid October.
Ice routes are best attempted during the same periods but on the
opposite side of the mountain.
