OF MALAWI FLY IN SAFARI

- Best of Malawi Fly In
- The trip runs from Lilongwe to Lilongwe but we are
capable of being flexible - a lot of international guests will
arrive on SAA from Johannesburg and these flights sometimes
arrive and depart Blantyre-guests itinerary can easily be adapted
to begin/or end in Blantyre although this may mean reversing
the trip and substituting a short road transfer for the Mvuu-Blantyre
sector of the trip. This will mean a slight decrease in the cost-please
ask us if guests preferred routing is through Blantyre and we
will make a plan.
- On Day 1 if the flights connect we reserve the right to fly
to Mzuzu with Air Malawi (one hour in a Cessna Caravan) and
proceed form Mzuzu to Chelinda by light aircraft-25 minutes.
- Group Size Aircraft are few and far between in Malawi-the
planes always available are a 5 seater 206 and a 5 seater Beechcraft
Baron. The operators of these flights are likely to be either
Nyika Safaris or Proflite. Please note that the airstrip on
Nyika is on 2400 metres-this means that a 206 will only take
off with a maximum of 4 guests-should the group be 5 pax then
the aircraft will shuttle the group form Nyika to Mzuzu (25
minutes) and then take off with the 5 from Mzuzu to Chintheche
- We cannot fly after dark so the latest arrival time of the
international flight into Lilongwe needs to be by 1500 -if later
then a night at a Lilongwe Hotel can be added - ask for details.
Day 1: Chelinda Lodge Nyika National Park
On arrival at Lilongwe International Airport you will be met
and assisted with Immigration formalities before joining your
charter aircraft for the flight to Chelinda Lodge, Nyika National

onto the Nyika Plateau. Usually, with clear skies you will get
good views of Lake Malawi off to your east.
Nyika National Park is scenically Malawi's most spectacular
wild area and is worthy of a visit as much for the scenery as
for the wildlife.. It boasts an incredible mixture of scenery
and landscapes - pristine brachystegia woodland, mature montane
forest patches, crystal clear running streams and miles and
miles of open rolling grassland. Being situated at a mean height
of over 2,000 metres guarantees a permanently temperate climate
which is of particular contrast to the lakeshore areas of Malawi.
